Where appropriate, we establish guardianships to protect our clients and to empower family members to act on their behalf. We handle estate planning issues, which can include wills, living wills, powers of attorney, and trusts. We help clients plan for when and how to transfer their ownership of a business, their investments and their real estate holdings.
Asset Preservation and Long Term Care
Our elder law practice includes planning for long-term care needs, such as nursing home care. We will help clients find legitimate ways to preserve their assets as much as possible. In some cases, this may mean establishing a grantor trust in which assets can be transferred to the trust so that a client can be eligible for Medicaid payment of nursing home costs. After death, the trust repays Medicaid.
